Overview

This article covers how to create staff user accounts in Emersion.  The term 'Staff users' refers to a specific type of contact in Emersion that provides access to Cumulus. Once a person has a staff user account, they can log into Cumulus and perform all the functions to which their staff user account has been granted. 


Accessing Staff Users

Admin > Staff

The list of staff users will be loaded on the screen and a number of search filters are provided at the top of the screen.


Creating Staff Users

To create a staff user:

Click the Create New Staff Login button on the right-hand side of the screen

The user will be taken to the Create New Staff Login page will open.

A staff user is a specific type of contact. All contact types utilise the same Cumulus page when creating and editing various contact types. Therefore, keep in mind that not all fields will be relevant to all types of contacts. Just complete what is relevant for a staff member.

Status Information

This section is specific to staff accounts and is mandatory to complete.

Select an Org Unit to which the staff user will belong to.

The chosen Org Unit will impact what permissions a staff user will have access to.

Select Active from the Status List drop down menu to enable the account for immediate use once it is saved.

Complete the Personal Details section.

Complete the Address section.

Complete the Communication Details section.

Complete the Privacy & Verification section. 

This section is usually reserved for contacts under a customer account, however the supply of an Account Password is mandatory. For staff users, this is not applicable we recommend entering '123456' or similar to satisfy the validation requirements.

Skip the Power Roles section entirely. 

This is present on the screen purely for legacy purposes and is redundant for new users. New staff users derive their permissions and powers via the role groups linked to the org unit, not the role group directly.

Usernames and Passwords

Complete the Cumulus User Login section by giving the user a username and password.

Usernames must adhere to the following rules.

  • Accepts chars A-Za-z0-9_.@ and minimum of 2 characters.


The user must use the Cumulus user suffix when logging into Cumulus. If the user attempts to log in with the username without the suffix, the log in will fail. All Emersion subscribers are logging into the same application and the Cumulus user suffix tells the system which service provider account the user is attempting to log in to.

Click the Check Username button to perform a search to see if the nominated username is already in use by another staff user.

When you are done, press Save.
