Overview

This article covers how to apply an access fee override against a service subscription. This will replace the default access fee set against the service plan with this fee for all future billing periods. The override will not apply to fees that have already been generated.

The best time to apply an override is while the subscription is still Preactive, before any periods and access fee charges have been generated.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites apply in order for the service plan's default access fee can be overridden.

  • The service plan must have an access fee set against it.
  • The service plan is configured to allow the access fee to be overridden.
  • The end user must have subscribed to the plan after the plan was configured to allow the access fee to be overridden.
  • Any package plans that the service plan is included in, can not have its own access fee. 
  • The package subscription access fee override has a start date that is in the future or an end date that is in the past.


Apply a SELL Service Subscription Access Fee Override

To do this, follow the steps below.

Customer > Service Subscription > Access Fee Override

The user will be taken to the Service Subscription Access Fee Override page and be presented with a list of any current and past overrides. The system also flags if there are access fee overrides at the package subscription level, as these will always take precedence.

Click the Add an Override button. 

The following screen will be presented to the user.

The default service plan access fee will be shown on the left.

On the right, in the Override Access Fee section:

  1. Choose the type of override in dollars or percentage markup.
  2. Add the value.  If a dollar-based override is used, be sure to flag if the amount includes tax or not.
  3. Enter a start date. Users cannot choose any date before the start of the service subscription.
  4. Enter an optional end date.  If the new override is to be applied indefinitely. do not enter an end date.
  5. Press the Submit button.

The user will be returned to the Access Fee Override list screen.


Apply a BUY Service Subscription Access Fee Override

To do this, follow the steps below.

Customer > Service Subscription > BUY Rate Override

The user will be taken to the Service Subscription Access Fee Override page and be presented with a list of any current and past overrides. The system also flags if there are access fee overrides at the package subscription level, as these will always take precedence.

Click the Add an Override button. 

The following screen will be presented to the user.

The default service plan access fee will be shown on the left.

On the right, in the Override Access Fee section:

  1. Choose the type of override in dollars or percentage markup.
  2. Add the value.  If a dollar-based override is used, be sure to flag if the amount includes tax or not.
  3. Enter a start date. Users cannot choose any date before the start of the service subscription.
  4. Enter an optional end date.  If the new override is to be applied indefinitely. do not enter an end date.
  5. Press the Submit button.

The user will be returned to the Access Fee Override list screen.

If package access fees and/or a package subscription-level access fee override is on play, the system will display text indicators and give advice to the user. The user will still be permitted to add the override, but it won't be used until the package plan access fee is removed and any package subscription-level access fee override is ended.
