Overview

Event mappings are the result of Emersion enabling an event type for your service provider account. Not all service providers have access to all event types. All service providers on board with Emersion, they are by default, provided with a number of 'standard events' as a starting point. If new events are required, a new (or multiple) event mappings are created.

Event mappings can be seen under Events > Templates > Mappings

Event Mappings vs Action Mappings

Event mappings must not be confused with actions and action mappings. The red highlighted example below shows a common example of how event mappings and action mappings are displayed within the one Cumulus table.

Upon first glance, it may look like the event type has been mapped twice. The ID in the first column is identical for both entries. This is the system event mapping ID.

Looking to the right, you will notice the Action Type is unique for each entry. Actions allow users control over the actions independently of one another. Templates will need to be set up for the SMS and message actions respectively, and they can be enabled or disabled without affecting the other available action type.  The Invoice Delivery event itself however, has been mapped only once.

Other important attributes can be observed from the event action mapping screen below.

  • The status of both actions are disabled, so the event will not fire at all.
  • If both actions are enabled, and templates are set up, this event will only be fire for users attached to the EmersionTest Default Account Profile.
  • A email template has been set up for the email message, but not the corresponding SMS message, as seen in the Total Templates column.

Extended Logging

Many events support a feature called Extended Logging.  When it is enabled, the will automatically create an entry in the Customer > Notes area when an event is triggered.

Not all events support the extended logging capability.  Typically, older events that were built before extended logging was introduced, do not support it.

To enable the Extended Logging function for events, the event mapping will need to be will need to be configured. This step is required for each event where extended logging is to be used.
