Overview

Viewing Invoice Designs

To view the invoice designs, go to:

Admin > My Invoice Template > Invoice Designs

Back here, we explained that Emersion maintains the base invoice layout types used as the foundation of all invoice templates. Invoice designs are a mechanism by which tservice providers can take a layout type, and apply a level of customisation.

Users can create a new design, or edit one that is editable. Only invoice designs owned by the service provider are editable.


This screen shows:

  • the ID, name and description of the design
  • the invoice design type. Remember, these are created and maintained by Emersion and each type can have different invoice design settings available in them. In the example above, the settings for Layout 1 will be different to the settings available in Layout 2. 
  • the owner of the design, and whether or not it's editable.
  • that 4 designs can be edited by the service provider. Those where Editable = Yes. Of these editable designs:
    • 1 design uses InvoiceLayout1 
    • 3 designs use InvoiceLayout2.
  • InvoiceLayout1 and InvoiceLayout2 are invoice design types created by Emersion.

Clicking the ID of a design will open the design and allow the user to edit the settings.


Creating New Invoice Designs

New invoice designs are created when service providers want the same settings set differently for different groups of customers. For example, there are multiple designs for the Invoice Design Type InvoiceLayout2 as shown above  The same settings will be available in each design.

Creating a new design will create a new instance of the design type that can be modified.

To start;

  1. Click the Add New Invoice Design button.
  2. Enter a Name and a Description for the design.
  3. Select a design type from the Invoice Layout Type drop down list.
  4. Press the Create button to save the new design.

When the design had been saved, the system will return the user to the Invoice Designs List screen. Now that a design has been created, the settings can be modified.

Modify the Invoice Design

Click on the ID of the design to open the design settings page in VIEW mode.

Click the Edit button to put the page into EDIT mode. The page will refresh with the settings now able to be edited as shown in the picture below.

Press the Save button to save the changes.

Invoice designs cannot be deleted

Invoice design settings are stored in a cache. If you make changes to an invoice design, you will need to wait up to 5 minutes before re-rendering an invoice before the changes take effect.

Invoice layout changes are not subject to a waiting period.
