This article explains how to migrate customer data to Emersion.

What is "Account Data" Exactly?

Accounts (Customers) are the first objects that needs to be migrated into Emersion. Without accounts, you can't bill the customer. In this context, the term accounts data includes the following:

  • Account information
  • Meta data related to billing (their preferred invoice method, their start date, and other mandatory fields)
  • Contacts
  • Addresses
  • email addresses
  • phone and other numbers

Planning the Migration

It is imperative to plan for a smooth migration of data, however the method chosen to migrate it.

Understand the Destination

First, we recommend you create a few customer accounts manually in Cumulus.  This serves two purposes:

  1. To familiarise yourself with the account creation process in Cumulus
  2. To gain insight into the mandatory and non-mandatory data needed to create the account.

Gather Your Source Data

You will need to gather and review all existing customer data.  It will need to be analysed to ensure it complies with the data format of Emersion.

For example:

  • Phone and fax numbers need to be in +country_code format.
  • Account names must not have "Pty Ltd", "Ltd", or other business types in the Company Name or Trading Name
