Overview
The Product Order Map feature binds products and packages so related products can be offered to customers while completing an order for a service. It does this by inserting an additional step in the ordering process. This step is used to offer customers the ability to purchase certain products based on the package plan the user subscribes to.
By configuring a map of products against a package plan, the order process will be modified to offer the products for purchase via both Cumulus and the Sign Up Portal.
Not every single feature or setting in the product order map will affect both the sign up portal and Cumulus. Where differences in behaviour exist, they will be mentioned where applicable.
Commissions are not supported using this method. This means Agents cannot earn commissions on products that are ordered using this method. Commissions only apply to product sales made via creating a product purchase separately.
Once a selection of products have been mapped to a package plan, the ordering process will include an additional screen offering the products the customer may wish to be included in the order.
Use Case Examples
A customer wants to purchase an NBN service and an order is commenced in the system. After choosing a suitable package plan, the customer is presented with options to choose from a NBN-ready modem that will cost $0 or a different modem for a $200 once off fee and a selection of Ethernet cables of varying lengths and colours. The service provider offers both outright or instalment purchases as options and the customer elects to choose the advanced modem under an installment arrangement and they decide to purchase some black Ethernet cables outright. The cables are not offered via instalments, but can be purchased outright. Both products are optional.
A customer wants to purchase an NBN service and an order is commenced in the system. The service provider automatically includes a modem that must be used by the customer. The modem will cost the customer $0 and is a mandatory item for all NBN orders. The service provider creates the product, flags it as a hidden item in the product order map. The order process will not display this item according to the visibility attribute, but a purchase record for the item will be created when the order is submitted, reflecting the customer has a modem.
