Overview

Quarantine is your view into Emersion's Batch Mediation System ('BMS'). The BMS's job is to receive (or retrieve) usage records, extract them and then attempt to mediate through Emersion's billing and rating engines.

Quarantine is the section of Cumulus where service providers can see usage records that are parked when they cannot be mediated and therefore cannot be billed. With proactive and regular review and treatment, service providers will be able to easily:

  • see why a usage record cannot be mediated
  • resolve the issue as to why it cannot be mediated
  • cleanse the record so it can be billed to the customer
  • write off the record so it won't be billed to the customer.

Prerequisites

Before attempting to use this module, users should:

  • Understand which service types include usage files that requires mediation via Emersion.
  • understand what types of charges are sent in these usage files from your supplier
  • understand the basics of usage and rating
  • understand the life cycle of usage in the Emersion platform.

Dependencies

In order to use this module, service providers must have:

  • supplied us with instructions on how to obtain usage files for each type of service that requires it.
  • BMS connectors that are active configured in Emersion for each type of usage file. Emersion staff must do this for you.

If you are unable to access a given feature and you have checked the permissions and powers, please raise a support ticket via the Emersion Support Portal.

A suite of quarantine reports is supplied to help users manage usage that has been quarantined.  They are available under Reports > List > Quarantine.
