Overview
By default, a subscription to Emersion's SMS Events module includes SMS messages being sent by Emersion's premium SMS gateway partner.
This premium service provides assurances for subscribers that SMSs have guarantee delivery. This is particularly important for organisations subject to the by the Telecommunications Consumer Protections (TCP) Code who are required by law to ensure messages surrounding usage consumption are delivered in a timely manner.
Subscribers can find the costs per SMS (and volume discount table) in their Emersion Customer Agreement.
Emersion's premium SMS partner will be used for all SMS events and SMS messages sent via the SMS Out feature, unless it is overriden with an alternative SMS Provider
Alternative SMS Providers
For Emersion clients who:
- do not need a premium service
- only require a premium SMS service on some events, but not others
- already have a commercial agreement in place with an alternative SMS gateway provider
Emersion is able to support the use of alternative gateways. While some development effort will be needed to integrate Emersion with an alternative provider, the cost of this is relatively low.
Once configured, users can then optionally:
- choose to direct all SMSs via the alternative SMS gateway under all circumstances
- choose between available SMS gateways when using the SMS Out feature.
- Configure which gateway is to be used for each type of SMS event.
- e.g. Use alternative gateway for a welcome SMS (Customer Create) event but use the premium gateway for service usage threshold notification events.

Please include the contact and website information for your SMS gateway provider and the rules you want to implement in terms of its use. There will be a cost to implement your preferred gateway into Emersion.
