Overview

This article is designed for service providers who are preparing to deploy an external portal and need to provide Emersion with a valid and signed SSL certificate.

There are a number of ways to acquire a signed SSL certificate for your website. In many companies, your IT team or network administrators will already have a preferred supplier and can obtain you a valid SSL certificate for you. You can:

Emersion strongly recommends that you purchase an Extended Validation (EV) certificate. Extended Validation SSL Certificates are validated to the highest degree to provide consumer confidence in the identity of the web site operator. It provides website owners with the green bar or padlock in the top-left of the address bar and is a visual indicator that you have implemented the highest level of security for your site visitors.

When the SSL certificate has been delivered to you, forward it to Emersion with the Private Key.

Emersion need both the SSL Certificate and Private Key in order to complete the installation of the SSL Certificate on the server.

Do you support Let's Encrypt?

Emersion do not currently support any such automated methods to issue Let's Encrypt on behalf of your organisation.

You are welcome to configure a Let's Encrypt ACME client in your own environment and follow the steps to manually generate a certificate to send to us, however this is not recommend due to LE certificate's having very short expiry time frame's and the administrative overhead of having to manually renew existing certificates frequently.
