Overview
This feature allows the creation of Security Deposits. To create and use this feature, you must create a Security Type (steps below). You will then you add a security deposit of that type to an account.
Creating a Security Type
The first step in configuring security deposits is to create Security Products. These products will have specific attributes that, when used, will enable them to be used by the Account Security feature(s).
- Log in to Cumulus and navigate to Product > Product Management > Create New Product. Creating products is covered extensively here.
- Set the Product Category to Security.
- Enter a price in the Default or Custom Price Book.
- Set the product to be a Billable Item.
After the product is created, you can create a new Account Security Type and link it to your product by going to Admin > Security Type. The page will show you a list of security types that exist.
Create a new Account Security Type by doing the following:
- Click the Create New Account Security Type button.
- Find and select your Product.
- Enter a deposit amount in $ in ex-tax. If you want to enter an amount inclusive of tax, check the inc. tax checkbox.
- Enter an optional description.
Adding a New Security to a Customer Account
Now that you have your Security Type set up, you can start using it. Navigate to Finance > Securities or navigate to the customer account page, then click the Account Security tab.
Click Create New Account Security, then choose the security type, price and a description. You can either use the default price or you can override it.
After this, you will see a ledger cardline has been created:
Returning the Security to the Customer
When it's time to return the security deposit to the customer, navigate to the the account and click the Account Security > Submit Return.
When this is done, it will create a credit cardline.
