Emersion is pleased to advise our customers that we have released a significant set of enhancements to invoice templates in order to give service providers new layout and configuration options.

Key Points

  • There are new invoice layout types for service providers to choose from.
  • We have released lots of new design settings for all these new layout types.
  • Your current invoice layouts now must link to an invoice design.
  • Your invoices today should render identically to how they rendered before the release of these new features.
  • Make use of the design settings if they were previously not available to you.

What do I need to do?

Nothing.

Your customer's invoices will not have changed, subject to a few subtle differences in alignment, spacing or tweaking of some of the sections that resulted out of the rework. If you did not have an invoice design linked to your invoice layouts, you will have one now. Many Emersion users will be unfamiliar with invoice designs and design settings. These are now fundamental components comprising the invoice templates so we recommend you have a look through the new help pages on these topics.

What brought this on?

Over time as we have grown, the number of requests to modify the invoice templates (or build custom ones) has grown too. Rather than developing a costly bespoke solution each time, Emersion established an invoice design settings framework that would significantly reduce the development needed to accommodate these requests.

This framework went live in late 2016 and is currently being leveraged to provide a level of control over invoice templates in ways that invoice layouts could simply not support.

Up until now, only service providers who have requested invoice changes have leveraged invoice designs. This is now being extended to everyone.

Where can I read more?

We have updated and transitioned the content on invoice templates to the Emersion Knowledge Base. We suggest starting at the invoice templates fundamentals article and then checking out your layout options, then browse though all the new design settings at your leisure.
