Overview

The service fee multiplier feature enables the ability to modify the service plan access fee on a single service subscription (base fee x multiplier). It separate multiplier to be assigned against the service to increase the access fee.

This feature is available only for supported service types. Contact our Emersion Support team to inquire if your service type(s) support it.

When Might We Use This?

This feature is useful in cases where the cost of the product might be X per Y. Rent, for example, might be calculated as $120 per sq meter.

Another use case is in the context of a VoIP subscription. A single service identifier is used identify the a service subscription and a multiplier can be configured against the service to adjust the price by the number of channels purchased by the customer. 

In this case scenario, the package plan should be configured with no access fees, allowing the service plan to drive the access fee price.

When you sell a new VOIP service, you would use a single service identifier and then configure the service subscription to multiply the fee.  This has an added benefit of reducing the number of plans that are required.

The feature is also used as a way to get around one of the core business rules pertaining to package and service plans in Emersion.

This rule states: A package plan cannot contain two service plans of the same service type.

Service providers who wish to sell multiple subscriptions of the same service type to a customer have one of two options:

  1. To use the service multiplier feature.
  2. Place multiple orders.

Both options will achieve the same billing outcome, however each option will present differently on the customer's invoice.
