This article guides service providers on using Emersion to order and provision Microsoft CSP licences from Rhipe, and then manage those services ongoing. This article assumes the reader has completed the Orders and Provisioning training session from the Emersion Standard Training Program.
Before you can place orders in Emersion, the following prerequisites need to be met.
As a fully automated service type with integration between Emersion and Rhipe for both billing and the provisioning of licences, the plan structure must be built and all plans must be in a saleable state before tenants can be set up. |
As stated in the Terminology section here, a tenant in Rhipe = a service in Emersion. To support the requirement that licences can be modified outside of Emersion, Emersion have altered the traditional way the subscription structure works for this service type. This is a diversion away from Emersion's general requirement that for automated service types, services should only ever be ordered and maintained from within Emersion to ensure data integrity and accuracy. This is now handled by the integration between Emersion and Rhipe. a single service subscription should be created per customer and tenant. This service subscription is created s a container-like object for the various licences held by the customer/tenant. Under the service subscription for this service type, is a Licences tab to manage and display the subscriptions and their quantities. This will provide a real-time view on what the customer is subscribed to. |
This section explains the ordering process for this service type.
The following order types and actions are supported with this service type
Mid-cycle package migrations are not supported by the Rhipe platform. They should be disabled as per this article. A cancellation only cancels the billing. The Emersion cancellation will not cancel the service on Rhipe. |
The following order types are not available for this service type.
For a new customer/tenant, place a new order for the service in the usual way. Remember: One service subscription (and service) is needed per customer/tenant.
The SQ page will request for a unique tenant name. This name will form the prefix to .onmicrosoft.com. For example, entering "testdomain" would create the full domain testdomain.onmicrosoft.com. The system will perform a check with Rhipe to ensure it is available.
If the tenant already exists in the Rhipe platform, you are required to check the box
